Wolfgang Hohlbein, 1953 in Weimar geboren, ist der meistgelesene und erfolgreichste deutschsprachige Fantasy-Autor mit einer Gesamtauflage von 37 Millionen Büchern. Der Durchbruch gelang dem von der Presse als "King of Fantasy" gefeierten Autor 1982 mit Märchenmond, das seinen Siegeszug in zahlreichen Ausgaben von den USA bis in den Fernen Osten bis heute ungebrochen fortsetzt. 1993 stand sein phantastischer Thriller Druidentor für ein volles Jahr auf der Spiegel Bestsellerliste, gefolgt von vielen anderen Titeln wie Anubis (2005) und dem zur Zeit größten deutschen Fantasy-Serienerfolg Die Chronik der Unsterblichen.
Die neue deutsche Phantastik ist ohne Wolfgang Hohlbein undenkbar. In über 150 immer wieder neu aufgelegten Bestsellern hat er dem Genre den Weg geebnet. Biography
Wolfgang Hohlbein was born in the same town as Goethe, Weimar, in 1953 and is Germany's top best-selling author. "Magic Moon" and "The Druid Gate" were sold in their millions and represented a breakthrough into a new world of fantasy. These were followed by dozens of other best sellers of 35 million copies in total.
His breakthrough came in 1982 with Magic Moon, which has continued to conquer the literary world from the USA to the Far East ever since. His 1993 thriller The Druid Gate was on the list of top sellers for the entire year, followed by other titles such as Anubis in 2005 and Wasp in 2008. His books have been translated into 37 languages.
Wolfgang Hohlbein's complete works encompasses more than one-hundred-and-fifty constantly reprinted novels including eight Indiana Jones books. Having won numerous prizes, the best-selling author's repertoire stretches right across light fiction from children's books and books for young people to novels and film books and from fantasy to horror to historical stories. The passionate motorcyclist and collector of tin figures lives together with is wife and co-author, Heike, his children and his many cats and dogs in the Niederrhein area of Germany.
